For this tutorial I will use this image:



1. Create a new image the same size as the image you are going to use and make it black or white. I have chosen black.



2. Now paste the image of Ciara (or the image you have chosen) about the black background as a new layer. Set this to darken. Don't panic! It's ok if the image has disappeared!
3. Now create a new layer in the middle of those 2 layers. Take out your brush tool and find a splatter effect brush or a brush of your choice (if you choose a translucent brush it will not work or will not work effectively).
4. Choose a light colour (if you have a black background - you need a darker colour if it is white) and add splatters to this layer, you will see you can see your image of Ciara reappearing! Use different colours to gain a better effect.



5. Create a new layer above this and set it to Overlay. Add a few simple text brushes.



6. To complete this image we want some light bursts. Take out your circle shaped brush and set the size to 80 and hardness to 15. Add a couple to your image to complete it and you should have something like this!:
